What is Radiesse?
Radiesse® is an FDA-approved, next-generation dermal filler that is setting a new standard for the correction of facial lines and wrinkles such as nasolabial folds. Made of calcium-based microspheres suspended in a water-based gel, Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple and minimally invasive procedure giving you immediate, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, and providing long-lasting and beautiful results. In many patients, the effects of Radiesse may last a year or more. Offering clinically proven safety and longevity, Radiesse is a convenient treatment that stimulates the body to produce new collagen — often with just one or two office visits.
How does Radiesse work?
Radiesse is gently injected into the skin in small amounts with a very fine needle. Radiesse stimulates the body to produce new collagen. This unique response provides immediate, visible improvement of folds and wrinkles, and provides long-lasting and beautiful results.
Is Radiesse safe?
In years of rigorous clinical testing and use by physicians in hundreds of thousands of patients worldwide, Radiesse has been shown to be safe and effective. In the FDA clinical studies there were virtually no allergic reactions. There may be some normal injection related occurrences, such as bruising, discomfort, swelling, or redness that typically resolve on their own.
Am I a Radiesse candidate?
You may be a Radiesse dermal filler candidate if you are beginning to notice wrinkles, lines, and folds on your face. Radiesse provides immediate and long-lasting wrinkle correction. Talk to a Radiesse physician for more information.
Why correct wrinkles with Radiesse?
Over time, tissue volume diminishes, leaving folds and wrinkles in several common patterns, including the deepening of nasolabial folds and accentuated smile lines (sometimes called "marionette lines"). Radiesse can be injected into the skin in order to compensate for the loss of volume or to correct these areas. By stimulating the body to produce new collagen, Radiesse provides a natural look that lasts for a fresh, rested, healthy appearance that still looks like you.
How is the Radiesse Treatment Performed?
Radiesse is injected into the skin through a simple, safe, quick, and minimally invasive outpatient procedure. Typically administered in a physician's office with the use of a local anesthetic, Radiesse treatment requires little to no downtime, with most patients returning to normal activities almost immediately after treatment.
How soon can I expect results?
The results are immediate and Radiesse continues to deliver results as it stimulates your body to produce new collagen. Results may last a year or more in many patients and many patients will achieve their desired result after just one or two treatments. To ensure your satisfaction with the treatment, your physician might schedule a follow-up visit, where a touch up treatment might be recommended. Since results may vary, be sure to discuss your expectations with your doctor.
Could I have an allergic reaction to Radiesse?
You do not need to undergo skin allergy testing which is common with certain animal-based or permanent filler agents, because Radiesse is biocompatible. Normal, injection-related reactions such as mild irritation, edema, swelling, itching, discoloration, or tenderness at the injection site may occur. These conditions typically resolve themselves within one to two days. However, if you believe you are having an allergic reaction to Radiesse, seek medical attention immediately
Is Radiesse permanent?
Treatment results are long-lasting, but not permanent. Over time the tiny calcium-based microspheres gradually break down into calcium and phosphate ions which are safely and naturally absorbed into your body, leaving newly produced collagen in their place.
